Photo Editing Overview
The GNARBOX app provides easy-to-use tools for you to make quick edits.
To get to the photo editing screen:
- Tap an image to preview it.
- In the Preview screen, press Edit in the top right.
Let’s take a look at what the photo editing screen has to offer:
- Adjust -- This is where you’ll make your exposure and color adjustments.
- Crop -- Change the dimensions of your photo on this screen.
- Undo -- Undo any changes or adjustments made to the image.
How to Make Adjustments
The GNARBOX app provides you with several exposure editing options. These include:
- Exposure -- Easily correct the brightness of your image.
- Contrast -- Adjust the relationship between dark and light in your image.
- Highlights -- Adjust to lower/raise the brightness of just the light parts of your image.
- Shadows -- Adjust to lower/raise the darkness of just the dark parts of your image.
- Punch -- Adjust to create a softened contrast effect that emphasizes texture and is used to create local contrast.
The GNARBOX app also provides color adjustment tools including:
- Whitepoint -- Adjust the combination of red, green and blue colors that make up the whites in your image.
- Midpoint -- Adjust the combination of red, green and blue colors that make up the mid, or center of the tonal range of your photo.
- Blackpoint -- Adjust the combination of red, green and blue colors that make up the true black of your photo.
- Saturation -- Increase or decrease the intensity of colors in your image.
- Temperature -- Adjust the warmth or coolness of your image.
- Tint -- Adjust the green or magenta color cast of your image.
- Intensity -- Heighten all of the adjustments made on your image.
Swiping left and right over the adjustment tools reveals further editing options.
To make an exposure adjustment:
- Tap on the Adjust screen.
- Tap an effect (for example: Contrast) and move the slider to adjust the effect.
To reset a single effect (for example: Exposure), double-tap the effect to remove. To reset all effects, swipe left to the end of the adjustment tools and tap the Reset All button.
TIP: For Whitepoint, Midpoint, and Blackpoint effects, tap the tri-colored circles to fine-tune the red, green, and blue colors.
How to Check the Before & After
The GNARBOX app allows you to check the “before” and “after” of your image so you can quickly see the changes made on your image.
To view the before and after:
- After making a few edits, tap your image. This will provide you with the Original view.
- To revert back to Edited view, simply tap your image again.
How to Crop Your Image
The GNARBOX app allows you to easily resize your image with a handful of options. These include:
- Original
- Square
- 3:2
- 4:3
- 16:9
- Instagram Story (9:16)
- Custom
To crop your image:
- Tap the Crop icon.
- Select the Square icon on the bottom left.
- Select the aspect ratio you desire.
- Make any adjustments by moving the white grid.
- Tap Apply in the bottom right to confirm your crop.
How to Rotate Your Image
The GNARBOX app gives you the ability to rotate your image in 90-degree increments.
To rotate your image:
- Tap the Crop icon.
- Select the square + arrow icon on the bottom left.
- Your image will automatically rotate 90-degrees.
- Continue to press the square + arrow icon until you reach desired results.
- Tap Apply in the bottom right to confirm.
How to export an edited photo to your GNARBOX or Camera Roll
Export to Camera Roll
- Once you've finished editing your photo, tap the Export button in the upper right.
- Select the option to Save to Camera Roll.
- Do not leave the app while the transfer is taking place!
- When the transfer has completed, the app will notify you.
Export to GNARBOX
- Once you've finished editing your photo, tap the Export button in the upper right.
- Select the option to Save to GNARBOX.
- The progress of the export will display.
- When the transfer has completed, the app will notify you.
RAW File Support
