What is the Task Manager?
The Task Manager is a handy tool that indicates the progress of a task. This includes:
- Transferring files
- Deleting files
- Transcoding video
- Extracting a RAW photo
- Exporting a Highlight Reel
How the Task Manager Works
When there are no active tasks, the Task Manager will show as a stationary wheel to the right of the Devices menu.
When an active task is in progress, the Task Manager wheel will rotate and a red banner will indicate the task that is taking place.
Tap on the red banner or spinning wheel during an active task to view the Task Manager. This will display the percentage of completion for your active task.
If the Task Manager wheel is not spinning, GNARBOX has completed all tasks.
If you select multiple actions for the GNARBOX to perform, you'll see the Task Manager designate the new tasks in a Queue. Active tasks will continue until completed.
If you have more than 4 major tasks going at once, GNARBOX may experience a slower performance.
Can I use my phone while a transfer is taking place?
While transferring files from your memory card to GNARBOX or external hard drive, you can pretty much do anything! You can navigate out of the app, close the screen of your phone, or even disconnect from the GNARBOX. Since the transfer is taking place between the GNARBOX and a memory card, your phone isn't necessary except to track the progress of the transfer. The only time you are not able to navigate away from the app or close the screen of your phone is if you are transferring files from your GNARBOX to your phone.
My video will not export.
If your video export seems stuck, it is likely due to one of the following reasons:
- Your video exceeds the 4GB export limit.
- Your video exceeds the 10min export limit.
- There is insufficient space at the location you are exporting to (ie: GNARBOX, external hard drive, mobile device).
How do I cancel a task?
This feature is coming soon in our new 2.0 software system due in 2019! Currently, the best way to cancel a task is by deleting the GNARBOX app and re-installing it on your phone. Closing the app out does not cancel a task.
