How to Transfer Files From Photos to GNARBOX 2.0 SSD
USB-Ethernet and Mass Storage Mode (device connection) provide the ability to connect the GNARBOX 2.0 SSD directly to an iOS device for easy file transfer. You can use either mode to transfer files from your iOS device to your GNARBOX.
Please note, for iOS devices with Lightning ports, in order to mount the GNARBOX using USB-Ethernet or Mass Storage Mode, you will need 1 USB-C to USB-A cable and a “USB-A to Lightning Camera Adapter”. We have tested the following 2 adapters:
Please always ensure the GNARBOX is connected to your mobile device utilizing the USB-C port to the right of the GNARBOX screen.

How to Transfer Files From Photos to GNARBOX 2.0 SSD Wirelessly
The iOS Files App provides a wireless gateway between an iOS device and the GNARBOX. To transfer files from your iOS Photos App (formerly Camera Roll) to your GNARBOX 2.0 SSD:
- Connect to the GNARBOX wifi network and open the Photos App.
- Tap Select and choose the files you wish to transfer.
- Tap the export icon in the lower left.
- In the pop-up menu, scroll down and choose Save to Files.
- Choose GNARBOX and navigate to your desired folder within the GNARBOX.
- Once you've located your desired folder, tap Save in the upper right.
After a few minutes, your files will transfer. Check your files within the GNARBOX App to confirm the transfer.
We recommend this workflow for small batches of files, particularly photos. The iOS Files App does not provide a Task Manager function. Because of this, transparency into the progress of your transfer is unavailable. You will need to check the GNARBOX App for confirmation that your files have transferred.
For larger amounts of files or for video transfer, we recommend using a wired transfer with Mass Storage Mode, outlined above.
