Getting Started with Frame.io: Using Home Mode
In order to connect and upload to your Frame.io account, you'll need to switch your GNARBOX connection from Field Mode into Home Mode. Field Mode allows you to connect a mobile device or tablet to your GNARBOX directly for general workflow needs. Home Mode allows your GNARBOX to connect to a local Internet network to download software updates and upload files to Frame.io.
GNARBOX also supports ethernet connectivity via USB-C, if you’d like the most direct connection for the fastest upload and download speeds. For more information on connecting directly to your Internet router, check out our walkthrough here.
To switch your GNARBOX from Field Mode to Home Mode:
- Connect to your GNARBOX wifi and launch the Safekeep App.
- Navigate to the Settings page.
- Tap Connection Manager.
- Tap Home to see your Home Mode controls.
- Next, tap Choose a Network.
- Pick your home WiFi network from the list.
- Enter your home WiFi password and press Done when ready. Your home WiFi network may take a moment to connect.
- Once the WiFi connection is complete, the app will ask you to switch your mobile device’s connection to that home WiFi network.
- Open up your network settings on your iOS or Android device to connect it to your home WiFi network.
- Then, switch back to the Safekeep App.
- Tap Pair GNARBOX.
- Select your GNARBOX from the list to connect.
- Once connected, Internet Features, including Upload to Cloud, will be available in the Safekeep app.
Note: To upload to Frame.io with your GNARBOX 2.0 SSD, you can also use a 4G MiFi device or a secondary phone as a mobile hotspot.
How to Connect Your GNARBOX to Frame.io
- First, switch to Home Mode in the Connection Manager using the instructions above. Frame.io will only work while in Home Mode because an internet connection is required for uploads.
- Once you are connected in Home Mode, navigate to the Settings page and tap Cloud Accounts.
- Select Frame.io from the list of cloud accounts.
- Now we can connect our Frame.io account to the GNARBOX. Tap Add Account.
- Sign-in is required to connect your account. Tap Get Authorization Code.
- You'll be redirected to your default Internet browser. Sign in to your Frame.io account.
- Once signed in, your browser will notify you to connect back to Safekeep. Tap Open.
- The Safekeep app will notify you when connection is successful.
How to Upload Files From GNARBOX to Frame.io
Once you have successfully connected your GNARBOX to your Frame.io account, you can begin uploading files in Home Mode.
- Locate and select the files or folders you wish to upload. Tap the Quick-Action icon (
)
- Then, choose Upload to Cloud.
- Select your connected Frame.io account.
- Locate your desired destination in your Frame.io account. Create new folders if needed. When you're ready, choose Upload Here.
- Your files will begin transferring to your connected Frame.io account. To view the transfer process, tap the Task Manager icon.
Accessing Frame.io Upload Reports
During or after a transfer, an Upload Report is available in the Task Manager. The Upload Report displays successes and failures of your upload. To view the Upload Report during a transfer:
- Navigate to the Task Manager.
- Tap View Detailed Report.
- Your Upload Report will display.
To view past Upload Reports:
- Navigate to Settings.
- Tap Cloud Accounts.
- Choose Frame.io.
- Select your connected Frame.io account.
- Tap Upload Reports.
- Choose the date of a past upload.
- The Upload Report will display.
To clear your upload history:
- Navigate to Settings.
- Tap Cloud Accounts.
- Choose Frame.io.
- Select your connected Frame.io account.
- Tap Upload Reports.
- Tap Clear History.
- A confirmation prompt will appear. To continue, tap Clear History.
How to Disconnect a Frame.io Account from GNARBOX
- Navigate to Settings.
- Tap Cloud Accounts.
- Select Frame.io.
- Choose the desired Frame.io account that you wish to disconnect.
- Tap Log Out.
- A confirmation prompt will appear. To continue, tap Log Out.
- Safekeep will notify you when your Frame.io account has been successfully disconnected.
